i don't know if it's because i've got older or because kids are happy with any old shizz these days but i have been so mistaken when it came to thinking that cartoons for this generation of young children was absolutely rubbish!
of course there are shocking cartoons out there that really do deserve to be written off the face of the earth but i mean... (and i will use my two 21st Century all time favourite kids shows)
storm hawks and transformers animated BOY ! do they know how to supply some of the best stuff on television or what?! being in the UK sucks because the US get these cartoons first - hence why Youtube is my best friend. i've watched the series finale of both shows and i can tell you that both left me on the edge of my seat and one left me crying.
i'll admit i'm a little bit of a Piper x Aerrow fan but it's only because i'm a hopeless romantic XD but i mean - jeesh was the finale to that show
IMMENSE !! Transformers Animated at the same time was so cleverly thought out it appealed to all people, even those who watched the original show! i remember seeing a clip of it way back last year before it started and cursing the new animation and of course the new Prime.... but i was too quick to judge and i fell in love with the whole damn show!
SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO WATCHES TA - DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW! .... i can't believe Prowl died *cries like a hopeless little baby*
you see, the thing is; people my age, a little younger and adults these days seem to think these shows are just, purely for kids. but there's something about them that just perfects them and make them stand out - these two shows specifically - it's the quality of the animation, the detailed plots and the edge of darkness that makes it wonderful. i mean, Storm Hawks wasn't short of a bit of death too. when you're older you can appreciate things that kids wouldn't - like the transformers from the retro era - Wreck Gar - Rodimus Prime etc.. kids would just go 'cool!' and buy the action figure but people who remember the old show would be like 'oh sweet - they got them in!!'
and cartoon or not - i am proud to admit that i cry when beloved characters die. it's the imagination behind such shows from when i was little that inspired the creativity and odd workings of my own imagination now that allow me to appreciate these shows. if only they could re draw the whole of the DM series to the animation standards now - it would be perfect on top of perfect !
*sigh* this journal is just a rant because it has no useful information in it - but it holds some advice... if you think that cartoons like this are silly for and eight year olds - just give them a chance, and search these two espesh on the 'net to watch - because sometimes, you'd be surprised at just how darn good they are !
